We got locked out of our house when our electronic lock decided to crap out on us.
It happened to be our daughter's birthday and we had dinner reservations. I knew exactly where the back up key was but I would have to drive 5 hours round trip to get it. Decided to call Island Key to see if they could break us... I mean gently nudge us back into our house.
I called the number and the owner picked up promptly and said he was a few minutes away. 5 minutes later he showed up. Took about 5 minutes to break in uhh... I mean gently open the door.
Cost was very reasonable. And most important of all a birthday party was saved. I highly recommend Island Key.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

So I come up from Philadelphia to clean out a storage locker, and because I rented a truck, I forgot to take the storage unit key out of my car (duh!). I called Island Lock & Key to come help and they were there in half an hour. They tried to save my lock at first, but it was a very expensive one and was not prone to be picked. They drilled it out quickly and I loaded my truck up and got on the road! That would not have been possible without their help...great guy!

I conveyed the urgency of needing service because we were showing our house at 3:00 pm. The call went in at around 9:00 am. I explained arriving in the afternoon was not going to work. He said he would get there earlier. I got someone else to do the job, finished before noon. Island Lock showed up at 2:;30 stating it was plenty of time to do the job. Realtor was already in the house when he showed up 5 1/2 hours after I called. I paid the service charge but do not recommend using this person.

Hello Martin,
It is unfortunate that you had an issue with your French doors. Unfortunately you called at 8:40 am and your phone call was recorded and you listened to the call when I was standing right in front of you.
I asked for explicit details and directions. I told you I would be there in time to solve your French door problem before your 3:pm showing. Your story skirts around the issue, we did not charge you for any work. I have worked on those types of doors many times before and even after just recently.
We arrived at 1:45pm (time cell phone documented) and that was plenty of time to fix the French door problem, we went into the house and your agent was already showing the house, and even she did not know the door problem was fixed. I then repeatedly tried contacting you on the phone and finally you answered. You were ignoring my phone call and adding to the time I wasted because you simply did not cancel my service call to your house after I rearranged my afternoon schedule of people who had scheduled their appointment days and weeks ahead of that afternoon.
A simple phone call before noon, the time you say it was fixed, would have solved all your problems and there would have been no service charge. A simple phone call when you contracted with another locksmith and they were on their way to your house would have solved your problem. A simple phone call when you were told there was going to be an earlier showing (by your own admission) before 2:30p but actually before 2 pm, would have solved your problem with no service charge.
You listened to the recorded conversation and all you had to say at that time was both you and your wife were making phone calls to get some help on your French doors and you didn't think about canceling the service call. You were too busy worrying about your French door in your 2 million dollar real estate sale that you think everyone else is beholden to you but they don't deserve to be paid for their time wasted on your lack of respect. Congratulations on the contingency pending sale of your 2 million dollar home, in today's market you more likely lost more money than the $80 service charge - Sue J.Wakefield, RI016Mar 12, 2021
Great job on house keys and also making sidewinder/laser cut key for my car. Highly recommended!

The tumbler in my Schlage combination and keyed door lock would not engage in spite of entering the proper combination. Important inner door to a secured room in house. He came within less than one hour and fixed it within 10 minutes. Personable. Plan to use again.
Very convenient to Barrington from Warren.

Eric is amazing and very reasonably priced!
I only had 1 key left for my Mercury Sable and wanted 2 spares (1 for my wife, 1 just in case). I called Benny's and they wanted $83 per key (to be fair, they told me that I should shop around for some place cheaper, so they were honest and upfront). I did not want to spend a lot so I checked Craigslist and found Island Lock and Key who had the cheapest rate.
Eric made me 2 transponder keys for only $100 total, plus he came out to my house in Providence, and involved my 8-yr old son in the process (showed him how the keys are made, let him help)!
Eric made me an extra door key at no additional cost. And Eric fixed (replaced) the cracked plastic on my original key at no additional cost. I would rate him 6 stars if Yelp had the option.
Super fun, amazing service, and a great price. I recommend Island Lock & Key very highly!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary Ellen F.Lynn, MA03Jul 13, 2018

Excellent service with one exception. Locksmith has terrible communication skills with his customers. He wants to help you when it's convenient for him, which I have no problem with that as long as he tells me so. He agreed to do the job, then told me he would be available at a time the next day that worked for him and not me. Remember I hired him!, the only reason we finally ironed out and finalized the deal is because I threatened him that I would hire another locksmith, ONLY then did he agree to meet me to hand me the keys he had cut . This locksmith is great but I think he juggles numerous jobs at the same time, so in the end one of the customers is going to be upset, and that customer this time was me.....
